Tree problems we see around Pensacola

Pensacola-area trees live with hurricanes, summer thunderstorms, lightning, sandy soil and a high water table. A few problems come up again and again:

  • Laurel and water oaks. These fast-growing oaks are everywhere in older neighborhoods, and they don't live as long as live oaks. Past middle age they often rot inside, and big limbs can drop without much warning — especially over roofs.
  • Heavy live oak limbs. Live oaks are tough, but long, low limbs reaching over a house, drive or pool get heavy. Thinning and end-weight reduction keep them from catching wind like a sail.
  • Pines and lightning. Tall pines take lightning strikes and attract pine beetles once they're stressed. A pine that turns brown from the top down usually needs to come out before it gets brittle.
  • Shallow roots in sandy soil. After days of rain, saturated sandy ground lets trees uproot whole in strong wind — the root plate just lifts out.
  • Over-trimmed palms. "Hurricane cuts" that strip a palm down to a few fronds weaken it. Removing dead fronds and seed pods is fine; leave the green.

If you're not sure whether a tree is a risk, request an estimate and say so in the details. We can tell you on-site whether it needs trimming, cabling, removal — or nothing at all.

What does tree service cost in Pensacola?

Most of the price comes down to the size of the tree, what it could fall on, and how easy it is to reach. A small tree in an open yard can be a few hundred dollars. A large tree over a house that has to come down in sections can run into the thousands. Stump grinding is usually priced separately.

Our Pensacola tree service cost guide covers typical ranges and the easiest ways to lower the price — like booking before hurricane season.

How to choose a tree service

  • Ask for proof of liability insurance — and workers' comp if they have employees. If an uninsured company damages your house, it can become your problem.
  • Get the price in writing, including what happens to the wood, the brush and the stump.
  • Be wary of door-knockers after storms who want payment up front.
  • Avoid anyone who recommends "topping" a healthy tree. It weakens trees and leads to bigger problems later.
  • Ask how they'll protect your lawn, driveway and landscaping.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. The estimate costs nothing and there's no obligation to hire us.

How fast will you call?

We call back as soon as we can, and urgent and storm requests go to the front of the line. After a hurricane or widespread storm damage, response times are longer for everyone in the area.

Can I send photos?

Yes, and please do. Photos of the whole tree and anything under it help us give you a more accurate price, sometimes before we even come out.

What areas do you cover?

Pensacola and the surrounding area: Escambia County, including Ferry Pass, Bellview, Brent, Myrtle Grove, Warrington, Cantonment and Perdido Key, plus Gulf Breeze, Pace, Milton and Navarre in Santa Rosa County.

What should I ask any tree service before hiring?

Ask for a written price that says what's included — cleanup, wood, stump — how they will protect your lawn and structures, and for proof of liability insurance.

How much does tree removal cost around Pensacola?

It depends heavily on size, access and what the tree could fall on. Small trees in open yards can be a few hundred dollars; large trees over a house or pool can run into the thousands. See the cost guide for typical ranges.

Do you sell my information?
